RUD-Chain guides
RUD-Chain guidesDuring wheel run always forces occur, causing the chain to climb. With increasing chain wear these forces increase, too, and the chain can climb so much, that finally it jumps over the tooth crest. By jumping of the chain high force peaks in the chain are generated, which may lead to chain failure. By utilising a chain guide the climbing and jumping on the wheel is avoided. Chain guides are always necessary if the load on the chain is adhering only at one side of the wheel and the other strand is only little or non-loaded. When the unloaded chain strand enters into the wheel the chain guide resp. the stripper has to securely untangle an eventually twisted chain and insert it trouble-free into the wheel. Discharging of the unloaded chain strand from the wheel, the stripper has to loosen the chain from the wheel and assure that the chain is running out trouble-free. A chain guide is only dispensable if it is ensured that the load is always on both wheel sides and the chain is not unloaded above the wheel. The guide radii result from the chain and wheel dimensions and are calculated and determined by RUD. The outer contour of the chain guide can be adapted according to the requirements of the customers. Depending on local conditions, plates, angles or bores can be provided for mounting the guide above the wheel. Chain guide:
