RUD Group - Bauma '07

For over 130 years family tradition, RUD is the market leader in lifting and lashing as well as for attachment points for surface exploration and subsurface investigation. At the Bauma, the Swabian chain and component factory is going to present with its subsidiary Erlau all about: The best way to move mountains! That means for crane, lorry and machine transport.

RUD presented 4 main points:

1.)

Lifting Point With the slogan “VIP-special quality 10, proven chain slings in the hardest long-term work for over 13 years”, the lifting specialists from RUD presented the over 280 VIP-components in 8 different chain diameters with various use application. And all with a 30 % higher WLL than grade 8. The VIP-lifting mean system with patented components has proven its pertinacity also in mining application.Lifting Point The VIP-range has been improved and expanded steadily. Therefore for example, the handy and patented chain shortening parts, like the multi claw, could have been designed easier and handier for more than 30 % after the world premiere. The VIP program can be delivered with the world’s Lifting Pointsmallest lifting chain diameter 4mm with 630 kg in 1-leg up to 2mm in 4-legs, with balancer, with 56 t. RUD is proud to be the first company which received the permission from the BG to stamp chains and components with H1 10 instead of H1 S8 due to the PAS 1061, a pre-norm of special quality grade 10.

Further interesting VIP-components are the universal chain for subsurface investigation overhead monorail 4t, the self locking and grab hook, the container hook, the universal swivel program, the combi lock, the overload indicator and the structural characteristics VIP-balancing suspension gear “VIP-Octopus” for the gentle transport of concrete elements.

2.) Save your load…before it is too late!

accident In the last years this important point resounds in the daily and technical press and in the radio throughout the land. Momentous accidents show the necessity of an adequate load securing regarding physical braking and curving forces. The police shows interest with a lot of traffic controls to ensure that the load is secured conforming to standards. The company RUD-Chains has the longest experiences in this domain and was an important part during the development of the corresponding VDI-Directives 2701 and the following ones; for loader and registered keeper the important Euro-Norms 12195 – page 3 lashing chains.

Lashing systems Since July 2001 the minimum requirements with lashing chains must be fulfilled. With the RUD VIP-lashing chains in VIP special quality 10 all requirements are fulfilled and the lashing force with the same chain diameter is excelled by 30 %.

Lashing systems When there is robust work, that means subsurface investigation or when securing construction vehicles of all types, steel construction, ready-mix concrete parts etc., the VIP-lashing system offers a long-living and cost-effectivel lashing mean. Especially the compact tensioner is presentable which fulfills the maximum tension force of 0,5xF and where all former disadvantages have been eliminated.

The patented and conforming to standards identification tag serves at the same time for testing the lashing chain. For easing the selection for the right lashing chain with integrated protractor and for determining the important horizontal and vertical angle, a “VIP-Lashing-Card” has been offered.

3.) Important TIPS for every constructing engineer:

If you answer the following questions with “Yes” then the tips and tricks will help you to improve your construction.

  • Do I want to design constructions which correspond to the European Machinery Directives?
  • Am I interested whether my constructions are safely and economically lifted, turned, rotated, lashed and assembled during the complete production process?

Every construction which weights more than 20 kg must be equipped with suitable devices according to the Device Safety Act chapter 1, point 1.1.5 to enable a use of the general lashing system components. A lot of constructing engineers neglect this fact in a stepmotherly way. The result is that during the whole production logistics chain – that means when turning, tilting, rotating, transporting to the customer; load securing, end assembly up to the disposal – a lot of time is lost for complex handling. Likewise, these handling procedures bear a lot of accidental risks. The often used eye bolt according to DIN 580 and self-constructed plate and wire bending versions hardly fulfill the 4 times securing against breaks in every direction.

Since 1981, RUD has steadily developed a complete lashing point series; welding and bolting versions and offers today with the new developed PowerPoint-Collection the world’s most voluminous lashing point program. Due to the use of high-strength tempered steel there are smaller dimensions for the suspension up to a WLL of 150t where the suitable lifting and lashing mean can be hooked in. All components are 100 % crack tested. With bolting versions the thread diameter can be reduced by 50 % compared with DIN 580 eye bolt. Therefore, the production costs can be considerably reduced. Further positive effects are the shapely design and the prevention of noise.

Whether crane, excavator, wheel loader, structural machine, structural vehicle, dumper, spoon, roller, cutter, different types, gear, motor, blower etc… in one word: every load needs a modern lifting or lashing point. RUD offers for the construction engineer the new CD-ROM with over 280 tested lifting points, 220 bolting and 60 for welding. These products can be chosen, enquired and ordered for the corresponding using conditions. Automatically the weight of the load, the number of used lifting points and the inclination angle of the lifting mean must be observed.

With all lifting points the WLL of 14 different applications can be accessed per mouse click. With the logical structure or easier – with keywords, for example thread factor with lifting points – you decide the pre-selection of the desired product. Chosen products can be put in a shopping cart and can be updated or printed if required.
More than 600 different drawings can be exported as a DXF-file and are available as 2D-datas and 3D-gemetric data in JGES-format on the constructing engineer’s CAD-system.

4.) "New" At last available in series:

Lashing systems Lashing points for low-loading truck, vehicle construction but also for earth-moving machinery of all types with an allowed lashing capacity = LC in daN.

Lashing chains must be in accordance with the DIN-EN 12 195-3. Though, the allowed maximum loading must be indicated with LC =daN on the identification tag. The problem for loader, driver and the police were the right classification of lashing or lifting point, which was signed with a dimensionless number – and nearly almost only indicated 50 % of the loading.
Lashing systemsRUD offers 2 lashing point versions for welding with a LC of 3000, 5000, 8000, 13400 and 20000 daN which can be assembled in all directions. With an attractive exhibit, it was possible to discuss on site with the specialists the possibilities for the installation.
