RUD chains provide optimal protection for rims

Car drivers are asking for aluminium rims ever more frequently, even with winter tyres. RUD, the snow chain manufacturer, has responded to this trend by especially developing three products to protect the light alloy. No longer does anyone have to go without the safety provided by snow chains in order to protect the appearance of their wheel rims.

RUD's Disc model has been specially designed for use on winter wheels with aluminium rims. A plastic ring ensures that the chain elements are kept where they belong, that is on the tyre and in contact with the road. The light alloy rim lies under the ring, well protected against contact with the tensioning chain and other steel parts. This effectively prevents scratches and other damage.

Thanks to RUD-matic engineering, the Disc is easy to fit despite the comprehensive protective measures. It is a shackle chain, that can be quickly fitted on a wheel, even in low-clearance wheel arches. The car driver does not have to link up any inner hooks. That is a big advantage, especially on rear-wheel-driven cars.

The Disc can also be fitted on low aspect ratio tyres, for example series 45 to 55.

Retrofittable protectors

Other RUD snow chains can be fitted with the protectAR wheel rim protection system. This is available as a complete set from specialist dealers, and can be retrofitted on existing chains. The protectAR is clipped into the outer side chain with one simple action. The protectors are made of a special plastic, and prevent the tensioning chain or other steel parts rubbing against or touching the wheel rims..

Centrax: automatic and protective

RUD's top-of-the-range snow chain model is designed to keep all parts of the chain away from the rim. The steel mesh of the Centrax lies entirely on the tread, not on the flanks of the tyre. Even with automatic fitting, no metal part comes into contact with the rim.
