RUD conveyor technology - Improved material feed of moderately flowing products at bucket elevators

Improved material feed of moderately flowing products at bucket elevators

Description of the problem:

For a reliable elevator operation the material feed is of utmost importance.

Mostly the inlet flange at the elevator reflects the limit of responsability between customer and manufacturer. Mistakes ahead of the machine result in problems in the machine:

Off-centered material:
→ Asymmetrical bucket load, different chain load/elongation (chain elevators), misalignment of buckets, hence problems with chain reversions, misalignment of belt (belt bucket elevators)
→ Risk of operational reliability/total system break-down

Too high feeding speed
→ Splashing of material out of the buckets
→ calculated bucket load cannot be reached
→ designed elevator capacity drops
→ Risk of operational reliability/total system break-down.

RUD solution

Installation of a distributor ahead of the elevator inlet:
- Feeding speed is just slowed down so that no congestion appears
- Material is guided towards flow direction.
- The flap effects on the material from above, is (partially) cleaned by the same and is less susceptible to material caking than i.e. material guiding plates located at the bottom.

Result:

=> Better material distribution over the whole intake width (bucket width).
=> No splashing of the material out of the buckets.
=> Achievement of the required capacity by means of better bucket load.
=> Better operational reliability by avoidance of machine/system-overload.
